Phytotherapy

Phytotherapy is a another word for herbalism. It uses parts of plant or preparations thereof (e.g. tinctures or extracts). The objective is to alleviate or cure disorders.

Because of the broad scope of activities that plants have and because there is often a correlation between several complaints, the whole person is taken into consideration. Pharmaca pura is based on the standard medical principles.

Herbal products can be a valuable addition to modern medicine, for example to alleviate chronic conditions, to prevent antibiotic resistance by using plants with antimicrobial activity and by stimulating the immune system, for replacement of synthetic drugs, to reduce side effects of synthetic drugs and much more.

Pharmaca pura is active in various fields:

  • Journalism

Pharmaca pura writes about herbal medicine for several audiences. From information for interested lay people, opinion articles and a column in a magazine, to scientific (literature) research for a scientific journal.

For people who are interested in the subject, see ‘meer informatie‘. For texts for colleagues, see ‘publicaties‘: ‘column’ and ‘artikelen’. For scientific articles, see ‘publicaties‘: ‘onderzoek’ and ‘artikelen’. The articles are written in Dutch, but some have an English abstract.
